Soroptimist International of Redding presents it's annual Mardi Gras fund raiser.
Each year Soroptimist International of Redding hosts it's annual Mardi Gras fund raiser. Funds received from this fun event are used to provide scholarships to deserving young women as well as to fund other service projects of the club. The event takes place at the Redding Convention Center on a Saturday evening in January or February. It takes our club two days to decorate and prepare for the big event and then another day for tear down and clean up. We have fun games like blackjack and poker as well as bingo and craps.
We have great community sponsors that help us to put on the event. We sell baked goods and feature dinner for those who wish to partake. Our gift store is the big attraction of the evening. It is full of wonderful items from toys and household items to tools and fishing gear. Winners take their chips to the gift store to trade them in for the gift that catches their eye. We also have many local restaurants who donate gift certificates for their establishment to our cause. There is always a big rush when the store opens for those who want to trade chips for their favorite restaurant gift certificates.
In 2010 our Mardi Gras will be held on Saturday, January 30th at the Redding Convention Center. We are planning some new fun so stay tuned for future announcements of what's up and coming with Mardi Gras!
