Each year Soroptimist International of Redding presents it's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon in October. In 2009 our event was held on October 14th at the Redding Convention Center. Our guest speaker and author of Nordie’s at Noon, was Kim Carlo of Kansas City, Missouri. She gave a motivational presentation about she and 3 of her friends who were all diagnosed with Breast Cancer while under 30 years of age. We hosted over 300 for the event and were able to raise over $15,000 to use in our Breast Cancer Detection Fund. Over the past 11 years we have funded over 500 mammograms and other related testing for women who could not otherwise afford the procedures. Thanks to our wonderful sponsors for their support in this worthy endeavor. We also recognize an individual nominated by their peers as our “Person of Distinction”. Our 2009 recipient is Pat Molinaro. Pat is a member of our community who has committed and dedicated herself to helping women who have been diagnosed with not only breast cancer, but cancer in general.
